Bible Reading Plan
Regular Bible Reading Plans

Read First: The Gospel of John

The Gospels:
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John

The Beginning of the Church & Christianity: Acts

Regular Devotional Reading:
1 Psalm and 1 Proverb each day

Beginnings:  Genesis

Mosaic Law and Early History: Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy

Topical: Read all verses on a topic. e.g. Heaven, Hell, Spirit, Sin, Healing, Encouragement, Hope, etc.. Find list of verses in a concordance or online - https://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/
or
https://bible.org/topics or choose from list at
https://www.blueletterbible.org/study.cfm

Bible Characters: Read the stories of great bible characters! e.g. Lazarus, Ruth, Esther, Joseph, Gideon, John the Baptist, Jonah. First look up their name in a concordance (back of your bible) then read their story and follow any references or footnotes for additional writing about them.

Biblical Events/Stories: Find the story using a keyword like, Flood, Burning Bush, Plagues, Crucifixion, Walking on Water. Find keywords in concordance to find them or https://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-stories/

Read Entire Bible Plans - https://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-reading-plan/

Chronological Bible Reading - read Scripture assembled by date as it happened rather than the order the bible has been assembled. Chronological Bibles can be purchased or https://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-reading-plan/chronological.html  or ask Pastor Mark to print out for you,

Word Study - Follow a scripture chain of a particular word, study all the places it appears. Very similar to topic study. Example; grace, sanctification, holiness, etc. You may find you’ll get ‘lost’ in reading other scripture!!

Apologetic: Answers to Questions about Faith, the Bible, God. Start with gotquestions.org

Prophecies: Often organized by topic and it’s helpful to have a study guide or study bible. Ask Pastor Mark

End Times: Often organized by topic and it’s helpful to have a study guide or study bible. Ask Pastor Mark

Chain Reference - (you’ll need a bible with chain references) While reading you’ll come across a small letter by a word. In the margin or on the bottom you’ll see the same letter with other verses that use the same word. Turn to those verses and follow the chain reference.

Example:  ISA 42:10 “Sing to the Lord a (a)new song,” Footnotes (a) Ps 33:3; 40:3; 98:1  Following this to Ps 33:3 “Sing to Him a new song;” we find another reference on this chain of ‘new song’  a Ps 40:3; 96:1; 98:1; 144:9; Is 42:10; Rev 5:9.  Continue to look up all references on the expanding chain from each verse referenced. This will enhance your understanding of the word or phrase and open up new reading territory.

For example, Rev 5:9  “And they *sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”

Wow, this is happening in heaven. Who is doing the singing? Why are they singing? Who are they singing too? What are they singing about? To answer these you’ll need to back up to say the beginning of the chapter 5 and read to and past verse 9.

Tips on Reading the Bible Daily

1. Set aside a specific time each day. Set your schedule and then stick to it.
2. Set a standard goal such as an amount of time, or 1 chapter per day.
3. Read the Bible for the sake of learning, not simply to accomplish your next reading. Say a short prayer to God before you begin, asking the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom and understanding.
4. Put a bible app on your phone or carry bible with you in your car. Read it if during your work break or while waiting for appointments or at long red lights :)

A Quick Note...

It is very important that you have a bible handy and read the referenced scriptures. It is God's words that have supernatural power, not my written words. My words are simply to lead you to the scripture and transition you to the next scripture.

Dear Church Members,

Feel free to discuss these topics with me via email (or contact page). Caution: there is a vast library of every teaching on the internet. How is one to know if a teaching is worth studying? Please start here, test them against the referenced scriptures, ask the Holy Spirit for revelation. These studies will give you a good biblical foundation.

Grace and peace to you,
Pastor Mark
