Why Bad Things Happen

The rationale behind the question is;
Since God created the world—one which
is full of suffering and evil—He is to blame.

The Biblical response is; God created the
world
good. He created people with the
ability to choose and yea, people chose evil.
Adam and Eve’s choice to disobey God brought
evil into the world. Their choice has had lasting
consequences for humanity (Romans 3:10; 5:12; 8:20-22).

God is not the one to blame for bad things happening to good people. And as Creator and Sovereign Lord He is under no obligation to give us an explanation for suffering. Even so, God has given us plenty of explanation—if we will only look for it and accept it.

We know that God can do more than one good thing through the bad things that happen to us. When bad things happen, let us remember that God knows what it is to suffer. (He sent His only begotten Son to suffer and die on humanity’s behalf.) More importantly, He knows how to help us in our time of suffering.

“For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, ..and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;” (1 Peter 2:21,23). For now, evil and suffering is with us. We wonder why doesn’t God eliminate evil and hate?
